We, our, and us, when used in this notice, means The First Bank and Trust Company of Murphysboro.
This is our privacy notice for our customers. When we use the words "you" and "your" we mean the following types of customers:
- All of our consumer customers who have a continuing relationship with us, such as:
- Deposit Account
- Loan Account
- Safe Deposit Box
- All persons who use our Trust department
- All IRA accounts for which we act as custodian
- All persons (individuals) who do not have a continuing relationship with us but who may use a financial product or service we provide in isolated transactions. This includes, for example, someone who:
- Uses our ATM Machine
- Purchases traveler’s checks or money orders
- Applies for a loan and does not get approved
- All former customers
We first define some terms.
Nonpublic personal information means information about you that we collect in connection with providing a financial product or service to you. Nonpublic personal information does not include information from public sources, such as telephone directories or government records.
An affiliate is a company we own or control, a company who owns or controls us, or a company that is owned or controlled by the same company that owns or controls us. Ownership does not mean complete ownership, but means owning enough to have control.
A nonaffiliated third party is a company that is not an affiliate of ours.
THE INFORMATION THAT WE COLLECT
We use customer information for several purposes. We collect information in order to (1) allow us to conduct business with you, (2) satisfy legal reporting requirements, (3) provide other products and services we believe you may be interested in. We collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:
- Information we receive from you on applications or other forms
- Information about your transactions with us
- Information from a consumer reporting agency

We will not reveal specific information about your accounts, or other information that will personally identify you, to those outside the First Bank and Trust Company organization for their independent use, unless:
- The information is necessary to help complete a transaction you requested.
- We have your written authorization to release the information.
- The disclosure is permitted by your agreement with First Bank and Trust Company.
- The disclosure is made to a reputable credit bureau or similar information-reporting agency.
- The disclosure is required or allowed by law, including, but not limited to, subpoena, garnishment, levy or other formal legal process.
THE CONFIDENTIALITY, SECURITY, AND INTEGRITY OF YOUR NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION
We handle your information with care. Our employees access information about you when needed to maintain your accounts or meet your needs. We may also access information about you when considering a request from you for additional services or when exercising our rights under any agreement with you. Each First Bank and Trust Company employee is required to follow our Company’s "Code of Conduct", which states that all customer information is considered private and privileged and is to be used solely for the purpose of providing you with quality customer service. Each employee is educated in the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy. We also take disciplinary measures to enforce employee privacy responsibilities.
MAINTENANCE OF INFORMATION
We have established procedures so that your financial information is accurate, current and complete. We will respond to requests by you to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner. NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION AND FORMER CUSTOMERS
If you decide to close your account(s) or become an inactive customer, we will follow the privacy policies and practices as described in this notice.
